Meta Brings AI Chatbots To Life: Snoop Dogg Among Celebs Paid Up To $5M For Their Likeness

Snoop Dogg

According to The Information, Meta is paying creators such as Snoop Dogg millions for AI chatbots, with the top creator making as much as $5 million over two years for six hours of work in a studio.

During Meta’s Connect event in September, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Meta will be integrating new AI assistants across its social media platforms that can have human-like conversations.

While the company has its own AI chatbot similar to ChatGPT, it has now introduced 28 new ones with different personalities that use celebrities’ images.

These include Tom Brady playing Bru, an opinionated sports debater, Naomi Osaka as Tamika, an “anime-obsessed” cosplay expert, and Snoop Dogg as an adventurous storyteller named Dungeon Master.

Celebrities such as Chris Paul, Kendall Jenner, and YouTube star MrBeast are also taking part.

Currently, the AI assistants are only text-based, but Meta’s announcement video featured clips of the celebrities speaking as their AI counterparts.

“We’ve been creating AIs that have more personality, opinions, and interest and are a bit more fun to interact with,” Meta wrote.

“Along with Meta AI, there are 28 more AIs you can message on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram. We partnered with cultural icons and influencers to play and embody some of these AIs.”

Snoop Dogg’s Journey With AI

In June 2022, Snoop Dogg shot his music video House I Built in the metaverse after deciding to explore a series of new ventures.

However, previously, Snoop Dogg has shared his confusion and raised questions about the implications of AI for the future.

He said in his interaction during the 2023 Milken Institute Global Conference that his interaction with bots felt like a ‘real conversation,’ telling audiences that ‘It’s blowing my mind because I’ve watched movies as a kid and I used to see this s***.”

“Are we in a movie now?” he questioned. “Do I need to invest in AI?”

Snoop Dogg seems to have answered his own question. His AI likeness is being rolled out in beta in the US across Meta properties, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
