We have always been told that making connections and networking are essential to growing, learning, and improving in our industries. 

Conferences for people of color provide a safe space for professionals to build their brand and increase visibility while relating to others who understand their experiences.

In 2024, this field continues to open its doors wider to professionals of color, offering a series of tech conferences designed to connect, celebrate, and elevate their contributions and presence. 

Let’s explore what’s on the calendar this year.

May

Latinas in Tech Summit – San Francisco, CA

The two-day event will spotlight the brilliance, resilience, and transformative power of Latina innovators in tech. The summit offers VIP, standard summit, and online tickets for attendees, with all three having virtual options.

July

Black Tech Week – Cincinnati, OH

Founders, funders, and corporations come to Black Tech Week to identify and lock in their successive wins. The Black Tech Week team creates strategic plays that guide investors, entrepreneurs, tech professionals, and creatives across three days of curated content and connections.

August

Black Is Tech Conference – Houston, TX

The 6th Annual Black Is Tech Conference is an in-person-only experience as the team takes a break from the virtual side. This event is a platform for Black tech professionals, students, and entrepreneurs, featuring various activities like learning, recruiting, networking, and entertainment​.

Black Is Tech 2024 will include speaking stages with over 150 speakers and five tracks, a full day of workshops, an expo with over 50 companies recruiting, and happy hours.

SquadCon – Las Vegas, NV

Hosted by Girls Hack Village and BlackGirlsHack, SquadCon is a three-day conference that brings gender-diverse perspectives on the contributions, experiences, and issues facing the industry. SquadCon is a space to discuss issues affecting girls, women, and LGBTQ+ people, encompassing mental health.

September

BITCON  – Nashville, TN

BITCON highlights the digital divide and uplifts individuals of African descent in the tech community. The conference is two parts professional development, one part Black party, and one part professional networking.

Black Women in Data – Atlanta, GA

Black Women in Data Summit centers Black women’s point of view in all spaces where data lives and offers opportunities for Black women to expand their data skills. It also allows them to communicate issues while giving recommendations critical to Black women’s advancement in the data workforce.

October

Black Tech Fest – London, UK

Black Tech Fest is a major European event celebrating Black culture’s impact on technology. The event is reportedly Europe’s largest tech gathering, with over 7000 attendees and 250 plus speakers.

THRIVE Conference – Fort Lauderdale, FL

The THRIVE Conference aims to advance tech careers, particularly for Black men. The conference is a 4-day tech conference where you can connect, learn, and grow in pursuit of starting or advancing your tech career.

The in-person experience will include tech talk sessions with executives, recruitment opportunities, and mixers.

SHPE National Convention – Anaheim, CA 

SHPE National Convention is the country’s largest annual gathering of Hispanic STEM students and professionals. The convention brings together over 9,000 Hispanic scientists, mathematicians, and engineers to celebrate, showcase, enhance skills, and network through workshop sessions and events.
