Latinx people make up one-fifth (20%) of the US workforce but account for 8% of people working in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), according to Pew Research.
Data from Built In also revealed that between 2007 and 2020, Latina and Hispanic women made up only 2% of computing-related jobs.
Given the underrepresentation of Latinx professionals in tech, here is a roundup of some of the organizations and communities ensuring they have the tools and support needed to thrive in the industry.
Supporting Latinx Professionals
SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers): Supporting Hispanics in STEM for nearly 50 years, SHPE is the nation’s largest association dedicated to fostering Hispanic leadership in the STEM field.

Techqueria: A non profit organization that serves the largest global community of Latinx professionals in tech. Their mission is to empower Latinx professionals with the resources and support that they need to further their careers and become leaders in the tech industry.
In 2020, Techqueria launched their inaugural summit in celebration of Latinx Heritage Month, to empower Latinx professionals in tech, connect them with companies who are committed to inclusion, and to celebrate the thriving Latinx in tech community.

Latinas in Tech: Empowering and connecting Latinas since 2014, they are a non profit organization with the aim to connect, support and empower Latina women working in tech. They work hand in hand with top technology companies to create safe spaces for learning, mentorship and recruitment.

Latinxs Who Design: A living directory of thriving Latinxs in the design industry. Their mission is to provide a space to find outstanding people to follow, look for a mentor, make new friends, or discover talented individuals to join your team.
TECHNOLOchicas: Raises awareness among young Latinas and their families about opportunities and careers in technology.
It is a national initiative of the National Center for Women and Information Technology and Televisa Foundation.
Latino Business Action Network (LBAN): A national non profit organization with the purpose of strengthening the United States by improving the lives of Latinos.
They aim to empower entrepreneurs to grow their businesses through research, education and national ecosystem development.
