Morehouse College Is Launching 3D AI Teaching Assistants

Metaversity

Morehouse College is launching what is reportedly the world’s first fully spacial AI teaching assistants (TAs).

After launching their Metaversity in 2021, Morehouse is taking the next step in technology-based learning.

AI Teaching Assistants

Muhsinah Morris, a senior assistant professor in education and metaversity director at Morehouse, pioneered the technology in Spring 2021 with faculty assistance. She will now teach a class this fall with a spatial 3D AI TA.

Students can expect to receive support from the AI TAs, who will manage assessments and office hours, ensure 24/7 access, and offer 3D demonstrations.

VictoryXR who initially worked with Morehouse to launch their metaversity, is also now working with Morris to launch AI TAs.

“These are different from chat bots because, one, they’re conversational. Two, they’re 3D, and you might just hear my AI TA speak Mandarin,” Morris said in a video shared by VictoryXR.

“The advantages to our AI TA’s is that it allows for personalized learning for every scholar on their own schedules. This is the first deployment of fully functional AI TAs […] What we’re really trying to do with these AI TAs is bring joy back to the classroom.”

Morris is set to publicly debut her AI TA in the US Department of Education’s Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program director’s meeting with Dr. Bernadette Hence today, June 25.
