Issa Rae’s ColorCreative Eyes Global Expansion With New Partnership

ColorCreative, a management and production company co-founded by Issa Rae, is set to undergo a major expansion thanks to a new strategic partnership with HarbourView Equity Partners, a Black-woman-founded investment firm.
The terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but with HarbourView’s backing, the company plans to evolve into a fully integrated, independent studio platform with global ambitions.
“Partnering with HarbourView allows us to dream even bigger,” said Rae, per Private Equity Insights. “We remain committed to supporting the kinds of projects that made us fall in love with storytelling.”
ColorCreative and HarbourView partner for growth
Founded in 2014 by Rae, Deniese Davis, and Talitha Watkins, ColorCreative has become a hub for underrepresented voices across television, film, and digital media. Its latest success, One of Them Days, debuted at No. 1 at the box office and later topped Netflix’s charts in April.
Despite broader industry challenges, ColorCreative reported doubling its revenue between 2023 and 2024. Now, with HarbourView’s investment, the company plans to scale its talent representation, boost its production capabilities, and accelerate the development and ownership of original content across formats.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first slate of projects under the new partnership is expected to enter production in early 2026. Watkins will remain as president, with Rae continuing to shape the company’s creative and strategic direction.

A Strategic Bet on Black-Led Storytelling
Founded by Sherrese Clarke in 2021, HarbourView is known for its focus on culturally resonant entertainment assets. With $2.67 billion in regulatory assets under management, the firm has previously acquired music rights from artists like Wiz Khalifa, Luis Fonsi, and Grammy-winning producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins.
This deal marks its first major investment in a content studio, and Clarke sees it as a natural fit.
“ColorCreative has proven that bold, creatively-driven content — especially stories rooted in Black culture — has the power to captivate audiences worldwide,” said Clarke. “Issa, Deniese, and Talitha have created a blueprint for global storytelling success, and we’re excited to partner with them as they scale their next chapter.”
