Old Navy Partners With Fifteen Percent Pledge To Support Black Creative Entrepreneurs

American clothing company, Old Navy, will donate $500,000 to the Fifteen Percent Pledge to support the growth of Black creative entrepreneurs.

The collaboration, an expansion of the Old Navy’s Project WE series, marks the first product collaboration for the Pledge to support diverse artists as they enter the retail industry on a national level.

Project WE, launched in 2021, has helped create a space for diverse and talented artists to gain visibility and equitable access.

“Old Navy is proud to amplify and celebrate diverse voices through our Project WE initiative in support of creating a better future for future generations,” said Sarah Holme, Executive Vice President of Design and Visual Merchandising at Old Navy.

“Through our collaboration with the Fifteen Pledge team, we are thrilled to shine a light on the next generation of talented Black creators.”

The Fifteen Percent Pledge, launched in 2020 by Aurora James, is a racial equity non-profit organization encouraging significant retailers and corporations to invest 15% of their purchasing power in Black-owned businesses.

“I know first-hand how artists and designers from marginalized groups have been historically excluded from opportunities to scale their businesses,” said Aurora James, founder of the Fifteen Percent Pledge.

The clothing platform will allow artists to grow their businesses and expand their audience through the project.

A range of artists from historically marginalized communities will be selected to share their visions through graphic tees released in 2023.
