Meka Knepley’s New Social Shopping App Is “A Crossover Between TikTok And Amazon”

Black developer, Meka Knepley, has announced the launch of her social shopping app, ReUp, described as a crossover between TikTok and Amazon.

The app, expected to launch this October, will allow users to watch videos and shop simultaneously, with one click. Like apps such as Instagram and TikTok, users will have the ability to scroll through content and products endlessly.

Community through shopping

ReUp provides users with an innovative shopping experience that benefits businesses and shoppers alike. The video feature aims to make it easier for people to discover small, upcoming businesses in a range of categories, including beauty, personal care, lifestyle, fashion, personal grooming, and relaxation.,

“The seller can get more people interested in their products,” Knepley said.

“Being a social platform, people will follow you. So, when the seller goes live, it might be an exclusive price or a one-of-a-kind item that intrigues people. They can go live to interact with you and ask questions about that product, and that helps them buy because they feel a connection with sellers.”

Knepley, married to Fortnite developer, Pete Knepley, is not only a full-stack developer with a degree in simulation and game design, launching her own VR game through startup For Loop Games before broadening her expertise.

Championing inclusion

ReUp is also a champion for diversity and inclusion within the workspace and has highlighted its commitment to highlighting and promoting premium quality products made by people from underrepresented backgrounds.

Pre-launch phase, the online shopping app has over 1,000 sellers and, once launched, will be available for download on the Apple Store and Google Play.
