Black-Owned Tech Firm Awarded A $13.4B Defense Contract
Black-owned tech firm, Eminent Future, known for providing software development, project management, and analytics services to a range of businesses, has been awarded over $13 billion in a defense contract with the US Airforce and US Spaceforce.
Eminent Future, co-founded by José Risi and Isaac Barnes in 2009, has grown into one of Virginia’s fastest-growing companies. The tech firm, which led software development teams for both President Obama and President Trump’s administrations, uses AI technology to build the framework of their products.
The platform, which “prioritizes people over technology,” works directly with organizations to help them figure out the best software to implement for their brand. They have an in-house team with extensive experience designing and developing high-performance systems. They personalize each unique feature and design and manage high-traffic, public-facing web platforms, providing products that run 6x faster than traditional contractors.
“Eminent’s efforts have aided organizations with architecting and implementing secure and compliant private, public, and hybrid cloud systems,” said José Risi, co-founder of Eminent Future.
“Our efforts have also stabilized and improved IT culture through initiatives that promote diversity, inclusion, mentorship, and authentic connectedness.”
39-year-old Isaac Barnes, who currently serving as the president of Eminent Future, is one of the most passionate and influential people in technology. The entrepreneur, who describes himself as a ‘futurist,’ plans to run for president in 2032. He will use his skills to implement strategies to help manage the digital landscape as technology continues to impact society. Barnes also uses his platform to advocate for diversity in tech and works closely with companies to close the Black tech gap.
“I look forward to working with Air Force and Space Force to bring more innovation. Now is not a time to fear; it’s a time to invest in the future,” said Barnes in a LinkedIn post following the announcement.
