LGBT+ VC Co-Founder Tiana Tukes Announces Resignation

Tiana Tukes, a prominent co-founder of LGBT+ VC, has recently announced her departure from the organization. 

Her decision is a significant moment in her career, marked by groundbreaking achievements and unwavering commitment to advancing LGBTQ prosperity through venture capital.

Tukes’ Journey With LGBT+ VC

Two years ago, Tukes embarked on a journey to establish LGBT+ VC. The non-profit organization focuses on supporting the LGBTQ community in the venture capital sector. 

Her initiative began as a simple idea for a private dinner for openly LGBTQ investors, a concept she initially felt insecure leading alone. 

However, with the encouragement and partnership of her co-founder, Jackson Block, this small project quickly grew into the impactful charity known today as LGBT+ VC.

Under Tukes and Block’s leadership, LGBT+ VC achieved remarkable success quickly. 

The organization hosted a national summit, established a venture capital fellowship program, and participated in the NYC Summer Youth Employment Program.

Under her guidance, LGBT+ VC has educated and trained over 1,000 limited partners, venture capitalists, family offices, and startup founders. 

She was also the first transgender woman to hold a position in a VC firm managing over $1 billion in assets, breaking barriers in the industry. 

Tukes’ Exit 

Despite these achievements, Tukes reported facing challenges within the organization. 

“Despite numerous attempts to resolve persistent issues, I find myself with no alternative but to tender my resignation… It became evident to me that my co-leadership was not welcomed,” Tukes wrote on LinkedIn.

Tukes announced she would be resigning from her senior management and board positions immediately.

“To my beloved mentees, students, and sisters: Please keep the faith and know your value. Refuse to accept abuse and mistreatment, and remember that nothing is worth sacrificing your well-being.”
