Meet The Founder Of The Digital Travel Guide To Black Cincinnati

Azizah Nubia

Cincinnati woman Azizah Nubia created Cincy Black Travel Guide to connect visitors with cultural events and Black businesses in the area.

After attending Black Tech Week during its run in the Tri-State area, Nubia noticed other people of color weren’t familiar with Cincinnati’s Black community’s annual events and activities.

This sparked her idea to create a platform in July 2023, to make it easier for travellers to find and enjoy what Black people had to offer in the city.

Cincy’s Black Travel Guide

Cincy’s Black Travel Guide is a digital tool accessed via the website or mobile app.

Nubia’s website, Cincy Black Travel, offers several options, including deals for events happening in Cincinnati alongside articles, videos and coupons.

It also has several affordable packages to ensure visitors have a high-quality experience.

An app was developed for the company, and it has been the second most downloaded app in the country since hitting the marketplace.

“We have thousands of people who come to Cincinnati during that week in July and like it’s a big tourist destination for Black travellers,” Nubia told FOX19.

“And so I said we need a map to guide people… I just wanted it to be an inclusive app where Black people go to places where they feel comfortable and can enjoy.”

Partnerships And The Future

The website recently partnered with Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky International Airport to help clients get the cheapest flight deals.

Nubia also created the Natural Woman, which debuted as a media outlet and expanded into a personal brand that hosts events and podcasts.

“It’s just a testament that whatever you believe in, whatever you put your mind to, you can make it happen,” Nubia explained.
