Capital One Business is partnering with Boss Women Media for the Black Magic Reimagined Summit Pitch Competition, providing $50,000, $30,000 and $20,000 grants to three women-owned small businesses.

What is Black Girl Magic Summit?

The Black Girl Magic Summit is a prominent digital summit for start-up entrepreneurs and thriving women in the corporate world who plan to elevate and make an impact.

Produced by Boss Women Media, they aim to equip, empower and educate Black women for the changing business and leadership landscape.

The in-person event will occur in Dallas, Texas, from September 30 to October 1 and will be streamed on Amazon Live.

The women attending will be able to meet with the summit’s speakers and influencers and network with each other with panel discussions, a VIP breakfast, wellness events, and a Black-owned marketplace.

Key speakers this year include Keke Palmer, Nicole Lynn, Kerone Vatel, and Shena Ashley.

“I am on a mission at Boss Women Media to change the narrative around Black women and sit in spaces that allow others not just to survive but thrive,” said Marty McDonald, Founder and CEO of Boss Women Media, in a press release

Recent reports show that Black business ownership has increased by 30% during and after the pandemic, and Black women are the fastest-growing demographic in that group.

However, Black women’s businesses face additional challenges, such as securing funding and mentorship.

Therefore, Capital One Business has teamed up with Boss Women Media for their Black Girl Magic Pitch Competition this year.

This will be providing $100,000 in grants to the top three winners of the competition.

“Capital One is on a mission to change banking for good by helping people across America to thrive,” Kerone Vatel, SVP, Head of Community Impact and Investment at Capital One, said in a press release.

“As the fastest growing group of entrepreneurs in the US, Black women are creating paths not just for themselves, but for their communities at large.”

The entries for the competition are open between June 26 and July 31.
