The Black Tech Community Is Taking Over Disney World
How often do the words Disney World and Black tech appear in the same sentence?
In celebration of its fourth annual conference, Blacks In Technology, LLC and the Blacks In Technology Foundation are inviting the Black tech community to Disney World.
BITCon2022 (not to be confused with bitcoin) will see Black tech enthusiasts channel their inner kid while taking home useful gems and new connections.
A Tech Conference for the Culture
Industry giants like Google, Disney, and Spotify are sponsoring the three-day conference which will take place from October 26-28th.
The convention will treat attendees to an impressive 50-plus speaker line-up, including Baratunde Thurston, author of the New York Times bestseller How To Be Black and Backstage Capital founder Arlan Hamilton.
The event will also be packed with demonstration areas, training sessions, and workshops on topics ranging from networking to career advancement.
Tech conference meets Block party
“This year, we will emphasize these three pillars: meaningful networking, career advancement, and actionable learning,” said Dennis Schults, executive director of the Blacks In Technology Foundation.
“The balance we want to strike is 40% block party, 60% tech conference. I want every attendee to walk away with knowledge they can immediately apply and have fun in the process.”
According to the press release, participants will also be able to join a gaming tournament with a $5,000 grand prize. Likewise, attendees can also enter a startup pitch competition with a $10,000 funding prize.
How many people are expected to attend?
After deciding to host their first in-person conference in two years, organizers believe the event will likely sell out with thousands of attendees on the day.
“After two years of not having in-person events. I am extremely excited that this year’s BITCON will be a hybrid conference,” said Greg Greenlee, founder of Blacks In Technology.
“There is no replacement for the in-person engagement experience.”
