The Manufacturing Of The First-Ever Black-Owned Fleet Of Self-Driving Pods Has Officially Begun
JéGO Technologies Inc, a Black-owned innovative tech firm based in Miami, Florida, has just begun manufacturing their self-driving vehicles called JéGO Pods.
The company’s goal is to use its mobile platform to connect users with businesses that provide on-demand services like Flu Testing, COVID testing, IV therapy, and other services which can be brought directly to customers using driverless JéGO pods.
To be released in late 2022, the firm was founded by Frederick Akphoghene, a Nigerian immigrant who started his career in tech at just 16-years-old, eventually building and partnering with hundreds of companies and startups including Abovav Technologies and Oddio Tribe Holdings.
With over 15 years of experience in tech development and software engineering, Akpoghene was able to design the patent-pending flagship prototype himself.
His autonomous pods come at a time when commerce is ever-changing and retail businesses are still reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic.
So far, the JéGO pods have reportedly already been approved by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and have garnered a number of partnerships including one with a Miami-based Urgent Care Clinic.
The global autonomous market size is expected to reach $400 Billion by 2025 as a majority of Tech & Automobile Giants aggressively switch from combustion engines to EVs & AVs between now and 2025.
JéGO is a sustainable company that aims to contribute to the urgent global zero-emissions goal.
The company has so far raised $60K from a public fundraiser.
On its fundraising page, it said: “Customers will be able to engage with businesses that provide services such as COVID Testing, IV drips, and other personal care services. Plus, customers who order from a JéGO vendor may be prompted with the option of a Pod delivery. Hello contactless service.
“And it’s pretty easy, too. When the Pod arrives at a location, it waits outside and sends a push notification alerting the customer that the delivery or service provider has arrived – typically within an hour or less. Our goal is to reduce this time by increasing the number of vehicles on the road. Only JéGO verified users have access to the pods,” the company said on its website.
