Venture Capitalist Launches New Initiative To Help Women To Invest In Women

The non-profit We Are Enough (WAE) is hosting a new initiative, the 3.3.3 Challenge, which aims to inspire three million women to invest $3 billion over three years. The movement was created with a “gender lens” to help women expand their wealth, match their values, and build a world they want to see, as stated in a press release.
What is We Are Enough?
Founded by venture capitalist Tracy Gray, WAE educates women about investing, regardless of economic background. Gray is also the founder and managing partner of The 22 Fund, a venture capital firm supporting women- and minority-owned green tech manufacturing and exporting companies.
“We are issuing a call to action to all women of every social and economic level to be less risk-averse, go beyond philanthropy, be comfortable with building wealth, and move some of those dollars into for-profit businesses led by women,” We Are Enough’s website states.
WAE provides resources to guide women on their investment journey through the northstar investment platform, which identifies Gender Lens Investing (GLI) opportunities. Women can also use WAE’s dollar and sense education portal to learn investment terminology, research sources, and gain confidence in making financial decisions that drive positive change in areas like gender and racial equality, education, gender-based violence, and climate action.
The 3.3.3 Challenge
Women are expected to control $34 trillion in financial assets by 2030, making it a perfect time to introduce the 3.3.3 Challenge. The challenge is inspired by gender-smart or lens investing, an approach that considers gender equality and women’s empowerment in investment decision-making.
The WAE website says: “The Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) defines gender lens investing within two broad categories: investing with the intent to address gender issues or promote gender equity and/or investing with the following approaches to inform investment decisions, such as financial and human resources, that signify an overall commitment to gender equality.”
“We Are Enough is undertaking this ambitious campaign to educate women why they should invest in women-led and women-owned businesses or with a gender lens,” Tracy Gray, venture capitalist and We Are Enough’s founder said.
