Shevon Salmon Is The Tech Content Creator Making Six Figures

24-year-old content creator, Shevon Salmon, is one of a few people turning their passion for tech into a sustainable income.

Before picking up his camera for thousands of viewers, Salmon first discovered his love for videography after the birth of his little sister, who he spent most of his time recording. The love he developed for technology – which started as a simple hobby – has sparked the growth of his career on social media.

Salmon’s YouTube covers various topics, including new tech drops, gaming videos, lifestyle and testing out new phone cases, and unboxing the latest digital widgets. Last year, the creator even documented the process behind how he built his first PC using the tiniest case ever.

Since starting his channel in 2011, Salmon has garnered an impressive 278,000 subscribers on YouTube and over 74,000 on Instagram, inspiring others to follow in his footsteps.

Salmon credits his success to trusting that bigger things will come. In 2016, the entrepreneur made $25 from his content. Despite how disheartening this was initially, it pushed Salmon to go harder.

“It might not sound like enough, but that was what really motivated me to start actually [creating content] full-time on YouTube,” Salmon said in an interview with AfroTech

According to reports, Salmon’s highest paycheck to date is $45,000. He received a five-figure payout for creating a YouTube video, an Instagram post, an Instagram Story post, and a TikTok video.

In addition to his work online, Salmon has created a digital production company specializing in influencer-facing content. The entrepreneur aims to bridge the gap between brands and influencers by producing high-quality stories and skillfully integrating the goals and audiences.

He has also partnered with high-profile tech organizations, including Motorola and LG. Last year, Salmon won the tech influencer of the year award, a massive milestone for the young creator who is only just getting started.
