Renowned Blockchain Expert Joins Digital Currency Group’s Board of Directors

Digital Currency Group (DCG) has announced that Professor Tonya Evans, a blockchain and digital assets expert, is joining its Board of Directors.

DCG, founded in 2015 by Barry Silbert, is a venture capital company focused on the digital currency market that builds and supports bitcoin and blockchain companies.

With investments in over 200 companies in 35 different countries, its mission is to accelerate the development of a better financial system.

Meet Prof Tonya Evans

Evans is a global leader and academic with over 20 years of experience in law, technology, entrepreneurship, and social justice. She was recognized on the Forbes 50 Over 50 Investments List for her work in 2021.

A fully-tenured professor at Penn State Dickinson Law, Evans also has a five-year co-hire appointment to pursue research at the Penn State Institute for Computational and Data Sciences.

In her role at the school, Evans primarily writes, speaks and teaches about law, technology and the future of work.

She is also currently the President and CEO of Advantage Evans, which produces online adult education services in the fields of the future of money, entrepreneurship and work.

Her new DCG role

In a statement by DCG, they confirmed that Evans will bring vast expertise across blockchain and digital assets, data, technology and social justice to the position.

“It is a privilege to join DCG’s Board of Directors and collaborate alongside some of the highest regarded leaders in the digital asset industry,” said Evans in the statement.

“I’ve long admired DCG’s position as one of the most established companies operating in the space. I am eager to help support the company’s path forward as it works to transform the incumbent financial system.”

In her new role, Evans will contribute to the company’s scaling efforts and strategic decision-making.

She will be joining Glenn Hutchins, co-founder of Silver Lake Partners – a private equity firm and Lawerence Lenihan, founder of Resonance Companies, on the Board.
