Harlem Capital Is Raising A $150M Fund To Support Diverse Founders

Black-led venture capital firm Harlem Capital is raising a $150 million fund, according to documents filed with the SEC.
Harlem Capital, founded in 2015 by Henri Pierre-Jacques and Jarrid Tingle, aims to change the face of entrepreneurship by investing in 1,000 diverse founders.
Harlem Capital’s Funds To Date
The new fund, if raised, will be the firm’s third and most significant to date after raising $134 million in 2021 and $40 million in 2019.
Its second fund focused on early-stage post-product companies from all sectors but a particular focus on consumer and enterprise tech.
They also focused on raising from diverse limited partners for their second fund. According to TechCrunch, it is safe to assume that the firm will continue as it stays true to its mission of supporting the next generation of diverse founders.
The $150M Fund
In contrast to the two previous funding cycles, the climate for this round of investment could be different due to the current backlash to the diversity and inclusion initiatives that followed the murder of George Floyd.
According to Pitchbook, Harlem Capital currently manages $174 million in assets and has made over 80 investments in companies, including Propane.ai, Poolit, a fin-tech company, and e-Gander, an e-commerce platform.
