Crowdfunding Platform Kickstarter Partners With Tubi To Support Independent Filmmakers Worldwide

Tubi is collaborating with Kickstarter to offer distribution opportunities to producers who utilize the crowdfunding platform to support independent filmmaking. From the beginning of fall, more than 20 movies that “uniquely resonate with Tubi fandoms” will begin exclusively streaming on the platform.
Tubi also plans to invest in Kickstarter’s FilmStream Collective Fund, which focuses on providing financial support to early-career filmmakers to help them complete their projects. Both Tubi and Kickstarter will also pledge to 10 specific Kickstarter campaigns to help them meet their funding goals. These 10 films will be available on Tubi exclusively for three months.

Kickstarter CEO Everette Taylor described the partnership as a natural expansion of the company’s core mission to empower creators. “Together, we’re building a new opportunity for filmmakers to share their work with global audiences and get the visibility they deserve,” Taylor said in a press release.
Tubi CEO Anjali Sud highlighted the level of recognition the Kickstarter-funded films will organically receive after they debut on the platform.
Neither Tubi nor Kickstarter disclosed how many films would be distributed, when they’d be available, or how much money both companies would pledge to the FilmStream Collective Fund.
Who is eligible for the fund?
Those who wish to be considered for support from the fund must launch a Kickstarter campaign between now and August 31, 2025,” Kickstarter said.
In May 2024, Tubi launched a program that allows creatives to develop films and series that could go on to stream on Tubi if they receive sufficient engagement from fans during the public-facing development process. Last October, four Stubios projects were greenlit, and Tubi announced that it had selected a new wave of creators to begin working on the next set of Stubios ideas.
