Black-Owned Companies Launch New Platform To Help Creators And Publishers Get Paid Faster

Tony and Ameer Brown

Black-owned media company BOMESI has partnered with Black-owned marketing and tech platform Breakr to launch SASA. The new payment and financing platform is designed to give Black-owned publishers and creators access to real-time compensation and campaign liquidity.

The rollout supports BOMESI’s mission to build sustainable financial systems for diverse-owned media and address one of the industry’s biggest challenges: slow payment cycles that can take up to 90 days.

Tackling Delayed Payments with SASA

BOMESI (short for Black Owned Media Equity and Sustainability Institute) is an ecosystem that drives sustainable growth for independent, community-based, and diverse-owned media.

Founded by DéVon Christopher Johnson, who built Bleu Magazine into a global multimedia brand, and Rhonesha Byng, CEO of Her Agenda, BOMESI has been at the forefront of efforts to strengthen the economic foundation of Black-owned media.

Through SASA, BOMESI aims to expand its impact beyond storytelling and into the infrastructure that sustains it. The platform offers instant payments, financing, and transparent systems, providing smaller publishers and creators with the liquidity and stability typically reserved for larger media companies.

“SASA is more than a product launch—it’s the blueprint for how culture should be powered,” Ameer Brown, co-CEO and co-founder of Breakr, said in a press release. “This is the future of equitable infrastructure, built for culture, by culture.”

Integrating Breakr’s technology into BOMESI’s network

Breakr is a marketing and technology platform co-founded in 2020 by brothers Anthony (Tony) and Ameer Brown, both HBCU alumni. Originally built to connect artists with fans through platforms like TikTok and Instagram, Breakr has expanded into a cross-industry ecosystem serving more than 70,000 creators and brands, including Billboard, Celsius, Samsung, UMG, and others. Artists like Kanye West, Megan Thee Stallion, Rick Ross, Future, Gunna, and Nas (an investor) are among those who have leveraged its network.

Now, through SASA, Breakr’s proprietary payments infrastructure is being integrated into BOMESI’s network of more than 300 Black-owned and 2,500 diverse-owned publishers, collectively reaching 90 million households each month.

The rollout will begin in October with a pilot group of publishers, followed by case studies highlighting campaign results, creator payments, and advertiser returns on investment. Future phases will include publisher testimonials, advertiser participation, and data on the platform’s long-term impact on diverse media sustainability.
