Atlantans Are Missing Out Their Dream Jobs, This Black-Led Tour Wants To Change That

A recent survey has revealed that many Atlanta job seekers actively miss out on their dream job out of fear and intimidation. The Be The Light tour, a Black-led mobile career event, hopes to change that.

Atlanta Job-Seekers Need Support

Research by Atlanta-based Insight Global found that Atlanta metro area job seekers often found themselves up against job search barriers, from a lack of confidence to a lack of resources.

The survey, conducted earlier this month among over 1,000 Atlanta job seekers, highlighted the issue of individuals no longer choosing to follow their dreams. The research identified several contributing factors, including being intimidated by the job search, not having a college degree, not knowing how to get started with a job search, and an overall lack of confidence.

“What we have often seen through personal experiences in staffing that has been reaffirmed affirmed through our survey is that many times, people just don’t feel like they are enough,” said Bert Bean, CEO of Insight Global.

“Whether it’s due to their background or circumstances, they don’t see their potential and who is right in front of them – a hard-working and skilled person who just needs access to pursue what’s possible. That’s exactly what we’re here to do.”

Be The Light Tour

To help job seekers boost their confidence and achieve their career goals, Insight Global has launched its first-ever mobile career center, Be The Light.

The tour is catered to BIPOC people, first-generation college grads, and other groups disadvantaged by social and economic inequality. It will kick off in Atlanta on November 12 and visit a dozen cities across the country.

The Be The Light team

The unique experience will offer attendees free access to Insight Global’s staffing experts and local experts. The event will give job seekers the tools and encouragement to pursue their dream careers. In addition, some of the industry’s top professionals and speakers will attend to support people who are up against their job search.

“We fundamentally believe in our purpose to Be The Light to those around us,” said Bree Davis, Social Impact Program Manager for Insight Global.

“Our recent survey shows that people want to explore new opportunities, whether it be to create a better life or simply keep up with increases in the cost of living. That’s why we’re hosting this tour – to empower and equip job seekers with the confidence and skills they need to create a brighter future.”
