Kai Cenat Breaks Twitch Record With 1M Subscribers

Kai Cenat has become the first user on Twitch to reach over one million active subscribers, just days before finishing Mafiathon 3, his month-long subscriber marathon series.
Cenat had previously achieved the record for the highest number of subscribers in December 2024 with his Mafiathon 2, surpassing 700k, and reached the one million milestone on Sunday, September 28, 2025. A portion of the proceeds earned from the subathon will be allocated to building a school in Nigeria.
Kai Cenat building a school in Nigeria
In 2024, the streamer visited the Makoko Children Development Foundation School and Orphanage in Lagos, where he saw the dire conditions of the students and staff. After seeing the school’s sinking building, limited space, and the struggle to provide a learning environment for its 385 students, Cenat wanted to help.
Cenat announced plans to construct a new school in the Makoko community. In the announcement, he asked people living in Nigeria or on the African continent to put him in contact with anyone who would like to work and assist in bringing the school to life.
How much of Cenat’s revenue will be allocated to the school?
Cenat shared that 15% of revenue from the broadcast will go towards building the school in Nigeria. If he reaches his goal of a million Twitch subscribers, that will mean $750,000 will be allocated for the project, excluding higher-tier subscriptions.
Fans recently called out Cenat, noting that, a year and a half after the school’s announcement, on-stream updates had become less frequent and donations had begun to decline. Fanny Moral and Chinedum Umeche flew in from South Africa and Nigeria to discuss the project. The two representatives are from Banwo & Ighodalo and Enko Education.
The group has established the Kai Cenat Foundation, Inc., to ensure complete transparency moving forward. This charity will ensure that all funds are accounted for and that no individual can personally profit.
