Showmax, a South African company, has surpassed Netflix to become the leading streaming platform in Africa.  With a subscriber count of 2.1 million in Africa as of November 2023, surpassing Netflix’s 1.8 million, Showmax’s rise signifies a significant change in the region’s media consumption habits. Business accelerator program, Comcast RISE, has dedicated $1 million to supporting Philadelphia BIPOC-owned businesses.  The program, which was initially launched in 2020 as a response to help small business owners of color who were impacted financially by the COVID-19 pandemic, will award more than 100 Philadelphia small businesses owned by women and people of color with $1 million in grants.  According to a press release, Comcast RISE has distributed over $16 million in grants to early-stage businesses, and $75 million in in-kind support for marketing and technology services, impacting more than 9,500

Digital Harbor, a technology specialist school in Baltimore, has received dozens of laptops for its students from TODAY’s Al Roker and Comcast after its principal was named Maryland’s Principal of the Year for 2021. Thanks to Comcast, a telecommunications conglomerate, the students were gifted 1,400 brand new Dell laptops and a free year of internet access. Taiisha Swinton-Buck was left in shock from the surprise and told the TODAY Programme: “It means everything to us.”  She added: “At Digital Harbor High School, we’re focused on technology. Computers kept us connected during the COVID
