Founder Raises $8.5M For Viral AI Agent That Lets Anyone Build An App

Create, an app-building platform, has secured $8.5 million in total funding, including a $5.5 million round led by Bessemer Venture Partners. Other investors included Shopify, Front, Zapier, Intercom, Shippo, and Ben’s Bites.

Its new product, Anything, which went live on August 7, reached 3.2 million views, over 30,000 new sign‑ups, within 72 hours of launching. It also tripled the number of paid subscriptions compared to the week before, bringing the company’s total registered users to exceed 500,000, as reported by Tech Funding News.

What does Create do?

While competitors were focusing on creating flashy prototypes, co-founders Dhruv Amin and Marcus Lowe spent four years building the infrastructure they saw competitors gloss over. They built the essential but often overlooked components that make the app work, such as hosting, databases, payment processing, and even App Store submission, all in one.

The result? A platform capable of handling 20,000 new projects daily, with outputs ranging from consumer apps like baby monitors to internal enterprise tools.

“Everyone’s asking who’s the next major AI coding agent. We think it’s whoever becomes the Shopify for software, where anyone can build and monetise apps as easily as selling t-shirts.  This week proved we’re right. Users are going from idea to App Store to first customer in days,”  Marcus Lowe, co-founder, said.

Crete’s future plans

The startup, which has a subscription of $19/month, already has a net revenue retention of 98%. It hopes to expand its reach to agencies, product design teams, and enterprise clients. Upcoming work includes enhancing monetisation tools for creators and expanding internationally.
